South Dakota Trip

We had an excellent vacation at Charlie's family in South Dakota. We spent a lot of time at the lake and it was a little chilly compared to what we were used to in NC. It was mostly 70-80s and one day I think it was even in the 50s and we were in sweatshirts and wishing I had brought pants!  The boys played a lot with their cousins and Grandma took them to the movies. They saw Jurassic World. I decided I best go or she may have 5 boys in the hallway scared...It was a scary movie but they all stayed and watched the whole thing with no nightmares.
The day after we got there we got to say hello to our friend Cheryl who had sold the Shore Store which she has had for many years. It was her retirement party from the bar. It was nice to be able to see her and wish her well. It's sad to see it in someone else's hands...it's one of those bars where the dog lays at your feet, the same people are there and they know what to serve you before you ask on a dirt road that overlooks a lake. I have found it's really hard to leave because the drinks just keep getting served and you don't know who might have bought the most recent round.
It was nice that my parents came over for the 4th of July weekend as well to celebrate with us. Dad brought his boat so we were able to ski and go tubing. It was fun to have them there.
We were so proud of Cooper and I still can't believe it he got up the first time. It was cool to see and he had a smile the whole time he was out there on my old skis I learned on behind Grandpa's boat. Braedyn tried but the water got a little too rough and the wind picked up.
The boys and I took the paddle boat out about everyday. I went for a nice run in the mornings taking advantage of the cooler and less humid temps.
We got to see Grandpa Andy, who is 98 years old! He is quite the amazing guy! It's hard to see him slowing down. While in DeSmet visiting with him we got to see some of the original Laura Ingalls house and schoolhouse. It is where they had settled for awhile. It was neat to see since I grew up reading those books and watching the show everyday after school.

We were gone 10 days and it was nice but also nice to get home to our own beds and to see Jake.

Top Gun Baseball World Series 2015 U11

We have a great baseball family for Braedyn's travel baseball team the Hawks. We had a great time staying in Rocky Mount, NC for the Top Gun World Series and the boys did awesome. It was the hottest weekend still to date. They were playing in temperatures of 100-108! It was so awful out there! Luckily we made it through the weekend with no one getting hurt or sick from the heat.
The boys played their hearts out and got 2nd place in the silver bracket out of 13 teams!
