I have recently gathered a lot of things to write about and post but where can I find the time! This mom is beat with dad being gone...1/2 way there. Then I can update this weekend.

A Learning Experience
I had a learning experience today that I didn't anticipate to arise so early on with one of my children...but I guess times are changing in the world of young atheletes!
First of all, Charlie and I would have never taken Braedyn to tryout for a competitive travel baseball team if we didn't think he could make the team. He asked if he could and we agreed and also had the conversation with him about not making it that we would be okay with whatever outcome. He is a good little ball player and he puts his heart into it. He's just not as big as some of the other kids and unfortunately that may always be the case but I will say he's definitely the fastest! Being little has some advantages!!! Mom can relate to that! He's also got the determination! The Jacobson's don't give up so easily! After tryouts yesterday, the coach told them all they did very good and he had a difficult decision to make as he had to make a cut from 24 to 10 and said he would call the parents that night. Well, he got busy and it never happened. Of course, Braedyn was hanging on every last hour. Have they called yet he kept asking... he wouldn't go to sleep. Finally about 10:00 I told him I didn't think they would call and maybe he got busy so go to sleep! He did a good job at both tryout sessions but there were a lot of good little ball players that showed up. I am not quite sure what the reasoning was of picking 10 but they ended up picking 11 players. I would think they would need a couple extras since kids get hurt or this is flu season with back to school sicknesses and some have vacations, etc. It's hard enough to even keep them focused that long!
I got the email this morning. I started scrolling down slowly and as I inched closer to the end of the list still not seeing Braedyn's name my heart kind of sank, I had a knot in my stomach and tears welled up in my eyes. Charlie is gone in Japan on a business trip. I think it may had been better if dad was here to deliver the news. Mom is kind of a softy and I cry very easily when I get emotional. I think Braedyn must have gotten that from me...I knew it was going to be the first thing he would ask me when he woke up. As I sat there, I was getting more and more upset. I was thinking how can you assess that many kids in a two hour period and that's all you know of them...welcome to competition and with that~ a little politics (but I am not going to go into that but that exists everywhere)....only at 8 years old. Guess that's how it works. I pulled myself back together and grabbed my POT of coffee.
As I walked out of the office Braedyn was up. He looked at me and I think he just knew. My eyes could tell the story as I looked at him and my tears started to well up again and he asked, "I didn't make the team did I mom." I replied "I am sorry honey, are you going to be okay with that." Then he responded with a disappointed look on his face, "I kinda thought I wouldn't make it because I was littler than everyone else." I was holding the tears back again as I explained to him, it wasn't because you were littler there were also kids there that were littler than him and there was nothing he did or didn't do it just didn't work out this time and I was proud of him for just going out there and trying. You did your best and that's all you can do. He seemed to be more at ease with it than I was. I think it was harder on me and Charlie than it was on Braedyn. You don't like to hear as a parent your child didn't make it or they weren't good enough for someone else. Too me he will always be the best and good enough or even better at whatever he chooses to do and part of that is because of his attitude! The one thing through the whole day that I won't forget seeing that Sunday afternoon is when he was running the bases as they were timing all the kids. He was the only one that ran from home to first with a smile on his face from ear to ear. He was having fun and you know what~ that's what baseball is supposed to be about especially at 8 years old! It's easy to get caught up in it all and you want your child to succeed but maybe you should ask your child if its really what they want. He just wants to play baseball and have fun! So that's what he is going to do for now!
God had his little plan all worked out but we have to have experiences like this to bring us back to what is most important and today we may have been disappointed but then around the corner came another ray of hope. He knows best! Everything will be okay! It will be okay because I believe in him and the power of his love.

Today I had to rely on him for my strength and also to shield me from the bitterness and anger and to trust in him that everything would be okay. I did that and my heart did leap for joy and I praised him in the end for he got me through this day!

Sunday Tryouts
Heading to Tryouts this afternoon in Carborro! Hoping and Praying for a great outcome. Daddy is not here to cushion the fall if needed. Charlie left for Japan early this morning and will be gone all week. Will keep you posted as to how it turns out....

I Cleaned Up!
I had to document this since it is such a rare occasion! I actually put on some clothes without a sports bra, running shorts and hat or pony today! I didn't know even know what to do with my hair! I have been growing it out and can't even remember when I got a haircut but I am getting it cut very soon. I think this was the first time I had done my makeup and dried my hair since May! It's so darn hot here and also who cares! I am a lot more comfortable in my workout clothes!
Braedyn snapped a few pictures with my phone...he thought we were going somewhere really special and told me I looked pretty...he's always so sweet. We were just going to Buffalo Wild Wings...Just thought I would shower. It's kind of funny that the kids think it is a special day when mommy looks nice!

Justice
I heard this at a talk I went to given by John Westerhoff III, the author of "Will Our Children Have Faith", he said, "Justice is giving people what they need, not what they deserve, what they deserve may not be what they need."
Punishment does not usually change people but transforming people's lives is what they need....
He was speaking of it in regards to the prison system but it is also true on so many other levels and other issues in life!

Gonna Be A Long Week
Getting prepared for Charlie to be gone a full week from Sunday to Friday. He is heading to Japan for work. Fortunately, he hasn't gone on long trips recently. He usually just has two to three days here and there but he will be gone all week. The boys are trying to get in some quality time yesterday and today. He surprised us and took the day off yesterday which was great and we had went out for dinner. It occurred to me we hadn't been out to eat in quite awhile besides McDonalds and Burger King. I thought of this as Jordan was crawling under the table and trying to peek over the booths. I was at one point worried he was going to drop his food on the ladies hair behind us seated in her booth as he kept standing up to see what they were up to. I let the boys choose and they chose Buffalo Wild Wings. I think I have killed that craving for awhile!!! My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach!
It should be an interesting week for us depending on what happens on Sunday at tryouts....

First Round of Blue Sox Tryouts
I was unable to make it to watch Braedyn at his tryouts for the Blue Sox baseball team. Daddy picked him up and took him to baseball and I took Cooper to hockey. Sounded like it went very well and Braedyn did great. He was so darn excited the past couple weeks. He woke up thinking about it and asking if today was the day.
Although he told me, don't worry about it, I will be fine if I don't make, I know he will still be heartbroken and it will break my heart. So please join with me in saying a few prayers that he will make the team.
I am just proud of him for even wanting to try out! I give him a lot of credit! In junior high I didn't even try out for the basketball team even though I played since fifth grade because it was so intimidating and even the thought of not making it scared me to death, so I chose an individual sport instead which was track and field. He is 8 years old and trying out for a sport! He works hard and puts his heart into it so hopefully that will also show for something!
Second round is Sunday afternoon and I am not sure what day we will find out who made the team. Wednesday next week is the first practice for the team so in between Sunday and Tuesday we will find out!
They had 17 kids show up yesterday and still have one more on Sunday for kids to show up and they are cutting down to 10 is what I had heard.
Keep Braedyn in your prayers!

Stuffed Green Peppers
So Easy and so yummy!
6-7 green peppers
1 - 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 tblspn of garlic
1 cup of instant rice
1 tablespoon of worchester sauce
1 can of 15 ounce of Tomato sauce
salt, pepper
Italian seasoning
onion powder
Cut off tops of green peppers and deseed...wash them out.
Brown Ground beef and garlic together. Cook rice.
Mix cooked rice and ground beef together. Pour in worchester sauce, 3/4 of can of tomato sauce, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and onion powder. simmer together.
set aside the remaining sauce mixed with some italian seasoning aside in another bowl.
Put peppers in baking dish. Spoon in meat/rice mixture.
Bake at 350 for about an hour. Can add more sauce as it cooks so it doesn't dry out.
Can top with cheese at the end until melts.

Check up with Ear Dr.
Cooper had his follow up with Dr. Clarke, his ear Dr. yesterday after school. Everything checked out okay. They were concerned with his hearing because he still has fluid in that ear they took the tube out of but he passed the hearing test with flying colors. I thought maybe this is why he doesn't listen to me:) The Dr. confirmed my thoughts, he just ignores me.
He did not have an infection so that has cleared up with the antibiotics from last week. He wants to recheck him in a couple months for his ears. He has had one infection since getting his tubes out and the Dr. said if he gets another one he wants us to come back in for an evaluation to possibly get another set of tubes...Please pray that we don't have to go through that again!
He also wants to check on his sinuses when we come back again in a couple months. Cooper has been so congested and keeps battling that and coughs. If he seems to be still having trouble with that at the next visit he wants to do a CT scan to look at his sinuses to rule out anything that could be causing it. If we do that and do nasal spray and it's not getting better than it's allergies and he needs to go to an allergist along with his older brother!
What is it with allergies. Seems kids these days have so many allergies. Luckily, I have not had this experience, so I do not know what it feels like. That is also my downfall because I don't know how it feels! I just know they feel awful and they are miserable! Poor Charlie usually comes in eyes watering, sneezing so bad his knows starts bleeding after a day of doing yard work. The boys got their dads allergies. I don't know if they are worse here than MN but they definitely have a longer season of it!
So I am praying that Cooper's ears will be fine next time we go back and we can also get this allergy-sinus thing under control.

The tryouts that were cancelled on Sunday are being held tonight at 5:30. Braedyn is super excited. I hope he can concentrate at school today! Daddy will be taking him as we have to divide and conquer today. Cooper has hockey at that same time!

crockpot roast beef
I tried something new the other day...usually Charlie is the expert on cooking the roasts and jazzing them up in the crockpot. But I let him sleep in on Sunday, so to his surprise, I had it going already when he woke up...
It turned out really good and I did it different than he had done in the past...
Here is the recipe that I came up with:) (I never really measure anything so its just all by eyeballing it)
We used two rump roasts (smaller)

1 can of diced tomatoes with green chilies (rotel)
Let sit on high most of the day and stir as soon as juices start simmering...
in about six hours it was done.
Serve with shredded cheese it was yummy!
It was delicious the next day as a sandwich with the meat and some of the juice on french bread loaf, broil the bread with a brush of olive oil and melted provolone or swiss.

He got to celebrate a couple times! Pool party on a Saturday with just a few friends from school and then Tuesday the 31st was his actual birthday and we celebrated at school during the day. Wet and Soggy Day
Baseball tryouts are cancelled for the day so it is a wet and gloomy day here in Chapel Hill! They might be rescheduled for Wed and then again next Sunday. Which will be interesting since I have to get Coop to hockey on Wed. Next Sunday Charlie is leaving for a week to Japan for a business trip. So he is disappointed dad won't be there Sunday, so hopefully they will make it up Wednesday and dad can come.
This weather makes me want to lay on the couch and watch football with a warm fuzzy blanket! Crockpots on!
Could be a long day inside today. It's been awhile since we have had to stay indoors an entire day!

Good Luck to Braedyn
At bedtime tonight we said our prayers and it was cute as Braedyn was adding his own prayers and praying he does good at his baseball tryouts tomorrow and hopes he makes the team.
I am nervous for him. I told him to be confident and give it his best. Dad and I will be proud of him no matter what happens. He told me, "Mom, don't worry if I don't make it, that's okay, I won't play a sport this time and just concentrate on my school work" Made my heart swell!
I love that boy so much!

Funny things kids say...

Oh my gosh look at her butt it is so big....(guess I didn't know he was listening to the radio the other day) that sound familar?? Braedyn likes to listen to the current dance stuff sometimes and sometimes they throw some of those oldies but goodies...
Don't call me that...(I was calling him Michael Phelps) He said, Call me Jordan Michael Phelps.
Also a funny story from Walmart one day....
We all went to the store, for what I don't remember, we ended up in the toy aisle.
All of us were standing in the same aisle and a mother was also standing there with two kids trying to pick out a toy. Braedyn gave me that look that I just know and he didnt' have to say anything. He was thinking what in the world is wrong with that ladies hair. Then Cooper looked at me and kind of giggled and I tried to ignore it as Jordan caught a glimpse of it and started laughing really loud. Then REALLY loud he is yelling MOM, MOM, LOOK AT THAT LADIES HAIR. I about lost it he kept shouting. I was so embarrassed and trying not to acknowledge that I heard Jordan but then that wasn't working because he was yelling it even louder LOOK AT HER HAIR and pointing. At this point Charlie had left me in the aisle with just Jordan as I am turned around pulling the cart behind me trying to get away. I had tears in my eyes because I was laughing so hard and I couldn't tell Jordan to be quiet because I couldn't get it out. Finally, when I got a couple rows away and found Charlie as he and the boys were still laughing and told Jordan to be quiet. He said why was that ladies hair red? The hair was so red. It wasn't a redhead. It was red like a clown's wig!

When Cooper was about Jordan's age we were at a grocery store and there was a little person coming towards us down the aisle and Cooper says to me "look mom there a midget".

We all went to the store, for what I don't remember, we ended up in the toy aisle.
All of us were standing in the same aisle and a mother was also standing there with two kids trying to pick out a toy. Braedyn gave me that look that I just know and he didnt' have to say anything. He was thinking what in the world is wrong with that ladies hair. Then Cooper looked at me and kind of giggled and I tried to ignore it as Jordan caught a glimpse of it and started laughing really loud. Then REALLY loud he is yelling MOM, MOM, LOOK AT THAT LADIES HAIR. I about lost it he kept shouting. I was so embarrassed and trying not to acknowledge that I heard Jordan but then that wasn't working because he was yelling it even louder LOOK AT HER HAIR and pointing. At this point Charlie had left me in the aisle with just Jordan as I am turned around pulling the cart behind me trying to get away. I had tears in my eyes because I was laughing so hard and I couldn't tell Jordan to be quiet because I couldn't get it out. Finally, when I got a couple rows away and found Charlie as he and the boys were still laughing and told Jordan to be quiet. He said why was that ladies hair red? The hair was so red. It wasn't a redhead. It was red like a clown's wig!
Why isn't it always in a store...
When Cooper was about Jordan's age we were at a grocery store and there was a little person coming towards us down the aisle and Cooper says to me "look mom there a midget".
White Cross Tractor Pull 2012
Every year White Cross has their annual Tractor Pull competition. They kick it off with the kids pull on Friday night. It is just down the road at the White Cross Community Center and it brings the community together for a great family fun night and for boys what could be better! Big Tractors, lots of noise, friends, and dirt!
This year it happened to be on the same night as family movie night at their school so I gave them the option of that or the pull and all three unanimously said they wanted to go to the tractor pull.
It was a fun night. Jordan pulled in the 30-40 pound range, he weighed in at 39 pounds. He is getting so big. Cooper and Braedyn were in the same weight class and pulled in the 50-60 pound. Braedyn got second place and Cooper got 1 inch behind him in third. I think the people helping did that on purpose. We didn't want little brother to beat him. They all got medals. Jordan was so funny. He was walking around telling everyone he got a gold medal...(again he can't forget the Olympics).
We stayed for some of the show but it was starting to rain and with them just getting over some nasty colds we headed home. They were disappointed they didn't get to see the one from last year. There were some tractors last year that had cages around the seat and they flew down the track and the were not here this time. It was fun to see neighbors and friends from the area and have a family night out.
Charlie is up there again tonight with a friend for a "guys" night out! He needs his too...

Dr. Report~All Cleared!
I had my Dr.s appointment Friday morning and it went very well! I am back! Slow but back! I could do all of the range of motion testing, which was a good sign since they tried three weeks ago and I was about in tears and couldn't do them. So the boot gave the tendon time to heal and rest. I am down to just the ankle brace which I am supposed to wear most of the time for a week and then I just have to wear it when I run until I feel strong enough to go without. I am still planning on running the 1/2 marathon in October in Durham. Doc said just to take it easy 3-4 miles this week and then up it by 1-2 miles weekly so by the time the race comes I will be ready...I didn't really take a rest from cardio since I was swimming. Which I found a new activity I enjoy! Maybe a triathlon in the future but I need a bike:)!

Midterm Reports today
Proud of the boys midterm reports today! All three's for Cooper and 3 three's for Braedyn and a 4 in Reading! So proud of Braedyn especially with the reading since transferring from the previous school he a lot of work to do and now he is excelling at it!

Means back to the dr.'s office!
I wonder if I can just hav a revolving prescription for antibiotics! I get home from Dr. with Jordan and he has a sinus infection and have a message on home machine that Braedyn is in nurses office with ear pain and his ear is really red. Since I don't live near school he has to tough it out... Guess we will be back at the dr. this afternoon for walk in clinic. I should have just asked them to fill a presciption for Coop and Braedyn since Cooper is still coughing now it's been a couple weeks.
I can't seem to keep their sinuses clear and they take allergy medicine daily! I don't know what else to do for them...

A Fish
Jordan learned a new ability today. He swam from one of the pool to the other- shallow to deep! I was a little frightened the first time as Braedyn was there to help him the first time. Then he said he would swim to Braedyn as he waited for him in the deep end at the step. He is such great brother and so responsible. I hope that doesn't wear off as he hits the teenage years!
He yelled at me to watch and I took a video of it the second time he did it. It was incredible! The kid just turned 3! I think he has gills! The funniest part if you watch it, at the end he says, "Now I'm just like Micheal Phelps". Funny kid! You can hear Cooper's concern, which was sweet...
He was so proud! He was all smiles and wanting to keep on doing it. I told him he needed a break as he decided to swim from side to side in the deep end with his brothers. I think he was getting tired. The best part of it was when Cooper was yelling, "You can do it Jordan, keep going, you got it, good job, keep going".
That was kind of something to watch.... Now I know how to tire him out during the day...Have him swim some laps:)! Before getting out he said, "Mom, lets race."

Little Things Make Me Happy....
The littlest things can make my day...
- Jordan asking, "Mommy can you come and cuddle with me?"
- At bedtime when everyone stays in their rooms and reads their books while I put each of their siblings to bed.
- When at bedtime Jordan says, "Mom come here I want to give you a big hug and then whispers in my ear, I love you and you are my best mom". That never gets old! Makes all the guilt from earlier in the day disappear!
- Then he says don't read a book I want you to tell me a story. I love his imagination as we come up with a story together.
- When homework gets done without any grunts or whining. When I don't have to ask twice!
- When there is no fighting...and they really do love each other!
- At dinnertime when I give them something new to try and they eat it and actually like it and want more or become creative with it and make a sandwich out of it!
- When the toys are picked up and I didn't ask.
- When the dirty clothes from the day aren't on the bathroom floor but in the laundry basket.
- When the dog actually comes and sits on my lap and wants some love
- The quiet of the house (but secretly I don't mind the noise because one day it will be gone and be too quiet)
- When they discover a new talent or ability
- When they want to tell me all about their day at school and their friends and I listen intently because one day they won't be so forthcoming.
- A nap
- Having just a little time to either write or read

Rainy Saturday
Jordan never ceases to make me laugh!!!!
Tonight our neighbor came over to hang out with Charlie and brought his daughter who goes to school with the boys at HES and is in between Braedyn and Cooper's age so they all usually have a good time together still because the weird girl boy thing hasn't happened yet. The best was when I walked up stairs to check on them and Braedyn had his pirate costume on and Cooper had only underwear, his cowboys boots, a karate belt, and a bow and arrow! I think Ted Nugent would LOVE that outfit! They all were having fun running and playing tag and hide n seek in the house since it rained pretty much all day and they were getting their energy out!
I decided I would sit my butt on the couch which I don't do very often and catch up on my DVR'd shows that I can't watch when they are around like "The Real Housewives Shows"...yes, I admit I watch those but what is so real about them and their million dollar homes and vehicles I keep asking myself...If they made a show about REAL housewives they wouldn't really get anyone to watch!!! Who wants to see women who don't have time to take a shower even after a workout, maybe clean the house, make dinner, run kids around to sports or other activities in my minivan that has science experiments growing in the cup holders and do homework while trying to keep them focused, while still not taken a shower...and oh did I mention sex appeal or sex alone-If long jammy pants and a t-shirt that could both stand on their own and walk around the house than I'm HOT... anyways I was too involved in that LaLa land of a show to notice that Jordan had come down to get a drink. I thought I heard something I turned my head and their he was on the kitchen counter and I could just see the top of his head. He decided he was thirsty. He pushed the chair from the dining area to the kitchen sink and crawled his little self up to the faucet and found a clean cup (well I hope it was clean) and got a drink of water. I said, "what are you doing?" and he told me he was thirsty so he was getting a drink...duh!
Then later I had yelled up to the kids quit slamming the doors! We do not slam doors in the house and don't shut them at all!
I was getting Jordan in the tub for bath and out of the blue he said, "Are you the only one who can slam doors in this house?" I was laughing on the inside!!! What a smart funny little kid! I said "Yes".
Oh that kid!

I love the concern the boys have for the mom...
When I do not have the "boot" on my foot, they are very quick to tell me I should be wearing it. They ask me if my foot hurts...Braedyn told me when he got home yesterday, "I think you should be wearing your brace on your foot mom."
They want me to get better and Jordan keeps asking when we are going running. I think he just wants to go to the park...that is his reward for sitting in the stroller!
Hoping next friday to get the all clear. It feels better but I don't want to push it. It doens't hurt but I can still feel a little bit of a nuissance in that area from time to time.
The injury let me relax a little bit and it was good for me. Of course I didn't completely rest....I have found that swimming really is a great toning workout! Although I missed that "runner's high" it let me see I don't need to push it so hard. You take for granted how great it is until you get sidelined with an injury. I will have to ease back into it slowly.

Home Sick
Well it only took three weeks to be back in school to get a nasty bug....
Cooper is at home sick today. He has been coughing so bad I thought he was going to choke sometimes! I feel so bad for him at night. We even tried giving him a spoonful honey before bed which is supposed to work as a natural cough suppressant. It worked for a little while...He is completely exhausted in the morning when he wakes up. Today he wouldn't even move when I tried to wake him. He usually kicks me and pulls the covers back and says he's not ready to get up. This morning he was so tired I didn't even get that! So trying some new meds out today and tonight and will try out the vaporizer tonight with vicks cough suppressant in it. Hoping this works. He has had this cough for almost a week now and now Jordan has it too. Braedyn doesn't have it thank goodness. He goal for the year was to have perfect attendance.

Some more of the Olympic commentary
Turn on the TV so they would eat dinner...and someone chimes in whoa USA is really winning...Men's basketball that is...
Here we go again...Braedyn is naming off the players on the USA basketball team and some I haven't even heard of! "Kevin Durant is sitting next to LeBron James", he says....(I'm not a NBA fan) and then Cooper chimed in trying to say Mike Krzyzewski (which was a mouthful!:) and there's that guy who played for Kentucky, Anthony Davis...The kids know their sports! Then Women's soccer came on after that. Wow, I never knew how brutal that can be. In a matter of 15 minutes four women got hurt and one really hurt but then went back in! It was funny when Braedyn said about a girl he's friends with, "how does she do that, she must be tough!" That was a great game and I couldn't get them up to bed until it was over...USA won!
They are sponges...
I was watching sycnchro swimming with Jordan and said, "I wonder how they do that" and Jordan said, "they executed it!" hmmm where did he get that from...
Instead of watching their Disney channel they would rather watch the Olympics! Yes, no fighting over TV shows and the remote for awhile!
It's great for them too since they both are studying the Olympics in Social Studies! Their teacher will ask them questions about different events that have been on and they also study the countries. Cooper actually taught me something about the China flag and what it stands for. I like the teaching opportunities that come up during watching it as well. Tonight Braedyn said, "I know her that's Abby Wambauch we talked about her at school". So I asked what they talked about and he told me that when she was a little girl, she loved soccer and she never gave up. Ah ha~ "See what I tell you, don't give up! See if you work really hard and don't give up, see all the great things that can happen. She is playing for Team USA in the Olympics!" He liked that!
I think we might go thru Olympic withdrawal around here when it is all over!

Olympic Fever in our House!
I have to admit we have been having a little bit of Olympic fever! We have had it on since it started. Charlie and I love sports and have three boys who love it too! Jordan is three and they were interviewing Michael Phelps and he came into the bedroom and told me Michael Phelps was on TV...do most three year olds know who he is? Probably not...I explained to them that they are watching history! That guy is amazing and I think he has gills! They got a kick out of some of the sports which they have never really seen before and probably didn't even consider a sport...like ping pong. They were amazed and laughing at the same time! They really liked all the water sports! My favorite of course is Track and Field and it started this weekend so I was happy about that! I remember growing up and thru high school had pictures of Flo Jo and Jackie Joyner Kersee in my room as my idols.
They have been having The Jacobson Pool Olympics! Sometimes with just the brothers or their friends as well that have been over. The other day they were doing flips into the pool and judging each other. Cooper and Braedyn can actually do a full tuck in the air before hitting the water! I got into the action yesterday morning and gave it my best! Cooper and I raced up and down the pool doing freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly. He's really good at the breaststroke! He beat mom! He decided he had to pretend he was actually on the starting blocks, so he would dive in after Jordan would give us the ready, set, go. It was a fun time. The boys actually are pretty good swimmers and maybe one day they will be interested in a swim team but for now it's just fun! Having a pool in your backyard would be ideal if you decide to be a swimmer! The best was this morning we were watching synchronized swimming and later in the afternoon all three boys were trying to copy the routines in the pool. (Jordan doesn't wear floaties anymore and can dive underwater!) It was hilarious! All of a sudden you see their legs up in the air doing different positions and kicks. I wish I would have had it on video tape. Then Cooper busted into something with his arms and legs! Funny kid!
I have had to resort to swimming because of my foot, which I believe is getting better. Swimming is a hard cardio workout! No wonder those swimmers have no ounce of body fat on them. It is hard! I enjoy watching the Olympics and amazed at these athletes! It would be neat to be able to watch it in person one day....something for the bucket list!

Tidy Tip 5
I came up with this little tip while helping a good friend the other day come up with ideas on design/color schemes etc. on their new home they are moving into. I had so much fun that morning. It was a playdate for Jordan and his friend but I enjoy doing that kind of stuff so I also had a fun playdate!
I absolutely LOVE her mudroom and so wish I still had one of those in our current house. We had one in MN and it was so wonderful especially with boys! She was showing me the bottom part of the benches where the shoes would go and she told me she was going to have to find something to put there so the wood doesn't get ruined. I am not even sure where I got this idea that came to me but I told her to find some cookie sheets that would fit perfectly. It will collect all he mud, dirt etc and you can just wipe it off... Not only is it a neat little trick but a cheap one at that. I found 17x11 size cookie sheets at Walmart for $5.00! I think I am actually going to use this in my entry way/laundry room. I don't have the neat little locker set up anymore but it will help limit the dirt, mud, and pebbles that get tracked in...I could even decorate them with some paint...
Leave it to the mom who doesn't bake cookies that often to use cookie sheets as a shoe holder!
At some point, my wish list has some built-ins put in the garage as our "mudroom"! It is almost a necessity with 3 boys and a husband who likes to get dirty as well!

I am not even sure where I got this idea that came to me but I told her to find some cookie sheets that would fit perfectly. It will collect all he mud, dirt etc and you can just wipe it off... Not only is it a neat little trick but a cheap one at that. I found 17x11 size cookie sheets at Walmart for $5.00! I think I am actually going to use this in my entry way/laundry room. I don't have the neat little locker set up anymore but it will help limit the dirt, mud, and pebbles that get tracked in...I could even decorate them with some paint...
Leave it to the mom who doesn't bake cookies that often to use cookie sheets as a shoe holder!
At some point, my wish list has some built-ins put in the garage as our "mudroom"! It is almost a necessity with 3 boys and a husband who likes to get dirty as well!

I pray that the love I have witnessed for so many years is what Charlie and I can leave as a legacy to kids our grandkids! These days the statistics is very sad, one in five marriages are ending in divorce. It isn't easy and marriage takes time, love, patience, understanding, empathy and forgiveness. It's putting your trust in someone and letting your heart lead the way. Sometimes that road gets a little bumpy but all things are worth it in the end. It takes work and a lot of love. Everyone has their ups and downs and rides the rollercoaster of love. If there are children involved, realize you are leaving a legacy. What would your children say about you? Would they be able to speak of love?

We lead by example and there needs to be both love and respect. We are showing them the way to love, speak, serve, and live. I am reading a book and it is starting to make sense. Women want to feel and be loved and Men what respect shown to them and that's how they feel loved...it's about communication and understanding each other. It is a cycle that goes on and on....If these needs are not met, things can get a little crazy.How many times have there been things said or unsaid that lead to miscommunication or arguments and there's that uncomfortable silence when you are in the same room because something was said and she felt it was insensitive or she said something that he mistook as disrespectful. Self-Righteousness is also destructive to any relationship. What can one say to a person who is always right and righteous? There's no need to think for both of you and I have learned not offer my opinion unless asked and just listen to his opinions and thoughts that I may consider different (because he is not thinking like me) and either let him vent or just be quiet. Sometimes he is not looking for my opinion! Also, a good come back would be, you can be right but wrong at the top of your lungs. Sometimes its easy just to agree to disagree or forgive and forget...I think that is also called unconditional love. A girlfriend told me this once when we speaking about relationships, "I may not like you right now but I will always love you..."
We kind of live in a tit for tat world and marriages shouldn't be that way but we often feel like it; but love shouldn't be based on percentages.
It is easy to get caught up in this thought, as many women including myself, are the ones doing most of the work at home, while they work at the office and it can seem unbalanced. It is not; because if he didn't go to the office, I couldn't do what I do. I have to remind myself of that when I get into that train of thought and I feel run down.
We both work! It's just different kinds of work. I know I have to remind myself of this often because it is hard work and tiresome. I think appreciation goes along way. If a women is shown appreciation for the things she does, she feels loved. If a husband can provide for his family, he feels respected.
This statement goes back to everything you do counts.
His love blesses regardless of her respect;
Her respect blesses regardless of his love.
Even in trials and tribulations you need to love and trust unconditionally out of respect. If it doesn't come back then it's not you. You are not doing something that is unfruitful. Most of the time, a transformation is in the works or you have planted the seed in your spouse and you don't even know it. I am not very good at patience and it is something I pray for many times. Delay is not defeat. Good things come to those who wait. Sometimes it may take a lot of waiting!
I have a lot of stresses on me such as raising and teaching the children, keeping a healthy loving marriage, being healthy, being a great friend, sister, daughter and granddaughter, keeping a clean and organized house, getting children to their school and activities, serving the lord and others, and others things that I am forgetting. But I would rather have all of these stresses on me than trying to also work on top of that! I would much rather have a loving husband providing for me and work together to keep everyone happy and have a loving home. We are a team. Team Jacobson! It isn't always easy but that's why we have each other to lean on! This post is just some reflection I have had while reading this book and thought I would share. I will be the first to say we are not the picture perfect family and we have our faults just like everyone else! Marriage and parenting didn't come with an instruction book, you figure it out as you go!
Whatever works for you doesn't always work for everyone. When you find that happy medium and life balance than that is wonderful. I think it is a daily see-saw; trying to have a balanced life!

I must have an eye for junk!
Maybe it's a gift or just creative but I enjoy going to the Thrift stores and Goodwill looking for stuff I can repurpose, make it shabby chic, or turn someone's trash into my treasure!
Today got a desk for Braedyn $8.00! Can't beat that! It's a cute lil white desk that I am sure will be adorned with MN Twins stickers, pokemon stickers, baseball stickers and some nice artwork! That's also why it was from the thrift store!
He was so cute working at his new little desk! I walked into his room and he was sitting doing his homework so diligently without interuptions from his little brothers.
HMM, wonder what I can find on my next trip to the thrift shops!

Sleepovers and Friends
I put Braedyn to bed tonight, giving him an extra squeeze as I will miss him tomorrow night. He has been invited to a sleepover at a friend's house tomorrow night. They are bringing him to a Durham Bulls game as they had an extra ticket and asked if Braedyn could go and spend the night. Now I know the family and he will be safe. But I always worry about him when any one of them are not with me....and so it begins! A mother's worry! I told him to call me from the game:)! We will see if that happens... I would be amazed and quite pleased if it does! Braedyns only done this twice with the same family who we know very well and do a lot of things with so that was a little easier on me. This is the first time it has happened where I don't know the family as well. They are very nice people and I am sure he will have a blast! I guess my friends that have girls say this is more of a common occurrence...sleepovers...
He gave Jordan a big hug at bedtime and they said their, I love yous and Braedyn told him he wouldn't see him tomorrow night at bedtime and Jordan had a sad look on his face as we walked out. I asked him what was wrong and he said he was going to miss Braedyn and wanted to make sure he would still see him in the morning when he got up.
A mother's heart must be VERY large because where ever they are they have a little piece of that heart with them! My heart is walking around outside of me so one could say it hurts just a little when they aren't with you! I think that probably is the case for the rest of my life!

Amazing Wonders and Thoughts it Provoked
Last friday at dusk, the boys saw a double rainbow. It was Jordan's first rainbow he has ever seen. He was in awe! It was very pretty and so vibrant! It had stormed pretty good and we went outside and witnessed a perfect rainbow, the full arch from end to end and shortly after for a faint while was a second one on top of the first. If you are on facebook and have friends in the area, a lot of the pictures were posted out on facebook. Jordan was explaining to Charlie, Cooper and I how God lives in the rainbow and he made the rainbow and the rain. Cooper said "no the green guy lives on the rainbow". For a minute, I had a perplexed look on my face, thinking well God isn't green what is he thinking about. Then he said, "you know the green guy with the pot of gold...the lucky charms guy. It dawned on me, "you mean the leprechans?" and then Cooper told me that's what he meant to say! Jordan's response was so darn cute. When you don't think they are really listening they are. At a young age our kids have learned that God has created a beautiful world around them and that God makes things happen. I pray that it sinks in and snipits like that puts me at ease knowing that they know their God is amazing. To them, I have said before, they equate his powers to Batman or Spiderman.
I remember taking notes in my bible next to this in Genesis because I love rainbows and the connection I feel when I see them, "Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." Genesis 9:16
A couple days later they got into another disagreement. The boys and I have been listening to KLove in the car because I am getting sick of the main stream country and I really enjoy the christian music channel (in the triangle, it's 106.7). The boys get a good message and they really enjoy the music too. I love when they are running around the house singing, "he reigns, allejuhah he reigns..." I will take it where I can get it and if it is listening to that in the car and they get it, then great!. Seems we are in the car a lot! Back to the disagreement, the disagreement came when out of the blue after one of the callers had called in to speak to the DJ and she was speaking about how God came into her life, Cooper asked me, "Mom, is God really alive." and to that response, I said the first that came into my head and I said, "Yes, he is Cooper, we just can't see him but he is like an angel in heaven watching over us." Then Jordan chimed in and said, "Yes, he lives in the rainbow." Cooper then disagreed and said, "No, Jordan he lives on a cloud and I bet it's really soft and the angels are up there too." Then he said, "I bet they just hop from cloud to cloud." So to put that argument to rest we just said he lives on both! Then I was driving thinking to myself...I have two kids discussing where God lives, and it didn't turn into a shouting match but a nice discussion....Hey, at least they know there is a God and they are speaking of him. From time to time, they ask questions about Jesus, God, church, and have questions regarding their faith. At least they are thinking about it, that's more than I can say I did at 3, 6, or 8! Cooper's birthday party
We celebrated Cooper's birthday on Saturday, July 28th with some his of his friends from school and church. He wanted a small pool party at his house. So that is what we did. They had an excellent time swimming on a hot summer day! They were all exhausted from all the fun!
He was so funny that day. The party wasn't until 3 and he of course was asking every hour "Is it time for my party yet". It was agonizing for him to wait. I then thought, maybe I should have made it earlier in the day. That was until he and Jordan both ended up taking a nap. He was so excited he had made himself take a nap. So glad they took a nap as it was about a 10:30 bedtime! We will celebrate as a family on his special day!!!
I love you lil Cooper and so happy you had a wonderful day! We ended celebrating his birthday at Chik-Fil-A on his birthday! That is where he chose to go. It was kid's night so it was perfect. He got to celebrate with the Cow!
I'll post some pics when I get them downloaded ...ya know me!
