So I wrote this last night as I was thinking of tryouts this week....
'Twas the night before tryouts
And all thru the house
not a creature was stirring but
Mom pacing about
The hockey socks were all washed
and packed with care
In anxiety that tryouts would soon be there.
Tomorrow we will be at the rink
Where my kids future will be determined
And whether I'll need a shrink
The children were all nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of offers danced in their heads
And momma in her prayers and I in my cap
Had just settled our brains for another year of
racing like a rat.
When out on the roof arose such a clatter
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Opened the shutter and threw up the sash
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Gave luster of midday to objects below
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a coach full of hockey gear
He was a little coach so lively and quick
I knew in a moment I think I'll be sick
More rapid than eagles his names they came
He whistled and shouted and called them by name.
Its Time to take the ice
And mom or dad offer a last word of advice.
Do your best and show them what you can do
No matter what we are proud of you!
Good luck to everyone this week at tryouts!!
